The Communication Design department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech) has become the first within the CUNY system to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Communication Design accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

Microsoft Interview at the Design for Inclusivity Summit
In my capacity as the National Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce Co-Chair, I addressed an invitation-only audience of key industry leaders, equity advocates, and activists, on the subject of equity and partnership. I shared how industry partners can help provide a level playing field through investing in the pipelines of talent that have not traditionally identified as viable. As an educator in a public design program my message stressed diversity of path, identifying those at the point of possibility and supporting those tasked with planting the seeds of possibility. Refresh is one of several events that seeks to build the small but lively creative community in Charleston. The purpose for this event is to get creatives to congregate on the regular in one of the four digital agencies in downtown Charleston. To do that, the speakers are handpicked and invited to share their expertise, insights, and energy. I was invited back to Charleston as an author born in South Carolina who practices in New York. Dave Moon, Program Director and Professor within the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication at CSUN invited me to be keynote speaker and facilitator of a workshop. Professor Moon was already using my methodology in his classes. I accepted because CSUN and City Tech share the same role in the social mobility of minority communities. I designed an eight hour workshop for 40 students using my book Creative Strategy and the Business of Design. I had so much fun and it was clear that this was the first of many east meets west collaborations.
